TESTIMONY

Testimonies are statements that are shared for others to hear, preserve history and testify to its importance. They serve as a reminder that experiences now, will make for a powerful story in the future. The Black Lives Matter movement has utilized its platform as a voice for those whose testimonies hope to fix systemic racism.

This is a collection of people who can testify to the significance of the Black Lives Matter Movement. We talked to over 100 people and asked them to describe, "How the Black Lives Matter movement makes them feel," using only one word, and, "what needs to change to make you feel like progress has been made." A common reaction among the groups was the need to use more than one word. Some people felt that one word could not begin to praise all of the efforts of the movement.

From children to older adults, our gallery below proves that the fight for healing and equal opportunity for marginalized individuals has no age.

Q1: How does the Black Lives Matter movement make you feel?

Q2: What one thing needs to change to make you feel like progress has been made?
